Andrew Bates

Host

Hi, I’m Andrew! I’m originally from the West Coast of Canada but I joined the Culips team while going to university in Montreal. In addition to working at Culips, I’m an English language instructor at a university in South Korea. I have a master’s degree in applied linguistics and I’m interested in how foreign languages can best be taught and learned. I love that Culips gives me an outlet to share my language and culture with anyone who’s curious. When I’m not podcasting, I like to make music, study Korean, play chess, and run.

Host

Hi, I’m Kassy! I joined Culips first as a study guide writer and now as a co-host. It has been such a blast to be a part of the Culips team. I graduated from a university in the US with a Physics degree, but quickly realized I had more fun participating in the language exchanges held at my university more than staying cooped up in the lab. I hopped on a plane to South Korea and I’ve been here ever since teaching, freelancing, traveling, and enjoying life. I am a bookworm and a baker, usually found cozied up with a fantasy novel and a steaming cup of tea or in the kitchen making ooey-gooey chocolate brownies in my free time.

Anna Connelly

Host

Hi! I’m Anna. I was born in Scotland but grew up in England. Now, I live in Madrid and work as a Business English coach. My work is quite demanding but when I want to relax and have fun, I love to be in nature, and I especially love hiking in the mountains. One of my favourite places is the Picos de Europa mountains in Spain.

A weird fact about me is that I love Mondays. Yes you heard that correctly. There is just something about starting a fresh week that motivates me. I feel great if I get up early in the morning and if I had to ask people how they would describe me I hope they would say; kind, resilient and thoughtful.

I am also a professional actress and voice over artist. Now I live in Montreal and I’ve been learning French! It’s a joy to share my love of language, English pronunciation, and North American culture with the Culips community!

Yoshi Kaneshima

Co-founder, Chief Operations

Hi, I’m Yoshi! I’m originally from Japan, but am currently living in California. I created Culips with others while living in Montreal because I wanted to create a resource that would enable learners of English to acquire everyday, conversational expressions in an educational but entertaining way. My goal for Culips is that we’ll be able to help millions of people around the globe to communicate fluently and confidently in English. When I am not working on Culips, I like to go cycling, hiking, or spend quality time with our kids.
